Today I got a watch.

I saw a film the other day and it did a beautiful job at romanticizing the watch. I thought it would be nice to have one, then I wouldn’t have to rely on my phone for everything, or at least not to tell the time. The first thing I noticed when I slid it on my wrist, after adjusting the time and date, was the ticking. The constant ticking of the mechanisms inside the watch waving the seconds goodbye. With the watch I not only live the second out, but I hear them dissipating. It’s amazing to think I never felt that before, that subtle sense of urgency whenever I’m alone and the room goes quiet. What am I doing?
